Google to punish websites for pop up advertising

As if you needed another reason not to include pop up adverts in your website...

When ever we are asked to include anything that pops up on a website that may interrupt or obscure a user from performing their task, we strongly advise against it as pop ups are one of the biggest culprits for users exiting a website.

Google are now going to target these websites utilising pop ups that take control of your screen and penalize them in search rankings.

from January 2018, Google will start lowering the rank of sites "where content is not easily accessible", and as website builders, content creators and web users, we think this is great!
