One-Call Furniture One-Call Furniture

The Challenge
To update and strengthen One-Call’s brand identity as part of a long-term strategy to increase business acquisition by appealing directly to the consumer, whilst not confusing or alienating retail clients.

The Solution
While the name ’One-Call’ is well recognised amongst retail buyers in the industry, it does not convey a message which is relevant to consumers. In order to appeal to consumers without undermining One-Call’s reputation with retailers, Brilliant realised that two parallel brands were required: One-Call Furniture for B2B and a fresh B2C brand focussed on the product itself.

Brilliant proposed names and visual styles for the furniture range itself, with the client eventually settling on 360° Bedroom Furniture. The new brand was applied to promotional materials in preparation for an important industry exhibition, while the old brand received a visual refresh.

Specific deliverables included:

  • Brand Design and Development
  • Exhibition Display Materials
  • Promotional Point of Sale Materials
  • Creative Website Design
  • Creative Printed Literature Design
  • Business Stationery

The Results
Brilliant’s carefully coordinated review of One-Call’s brand identity has improved the consistency, clarity and key-messaging of both client- and consumer-facing marketing materials. The brand refresh has excited retail buyers, not only strengthening One-Call’s existing reputation but also elevating it to that of a modern, forward-thinking, progressive company.

The 360° Bedroom Furniture brand will continue to improve consumer recognition of One-Call’s furniture, fostering trust in the product and increasing sales as a result.

BioInteractions BioInteractions

The Challenge
To update BioInteractions’ brand identity as part of a long-term strategy to increase business acquisition and establish a leading position in their market.

The Solution
Brilliant created a new brand identity for BioInteractions, and rolled it out across all their marketing and communications media. The BioInteractions website focuses on guiding users to the products most relevant to them and capturing their contact details.

Specific deliverables included:

  • Brand Design and Development
  • Business Stationery
  • Bespoke Company Folder
  • Website
  • eMarketing - Search Engine Optimisation
  • Exhibition Display Materials

The Results
Brilliant’s carefully coordinated brand review of BioInteractions’ brand identity has improved the consistency and clarity of client-facing marketing materials, which will increase lead generation and business acquisition. The website is now more functional and acts as a central resource for product data.

Payzoola Payzoola Mobile

Project objectives
Payzoola required a fresh identity to stand head and shoulders above the competition, and to communicate the benefits of their unique service to consumers. It was also important for the website interface to be user-friendly and to focus on its main function — rewarding customers for their online mobile phone purchases.

Our approach
Initially the project was nameless; Brilliant identified Payzoola’s target market and key business objectives, and developed a brand name and identity guidelines which could be used as the basis for the website design.

After completing the creative design stage, Brilliant worked closely with a specialist third-party developer to produce clear, attractive graphical user interface (GUI) templates that integrate seamlessly with the website’s complex functionality.

The brand is supported by a colourful dinosaur character, illustrated by Brilliant, which is used to help guide customers through the steps to completing their purchase.

What we delivered

  • Brand name development
  • Brand identity design
  • Character illustration
  • Usability analysis
  • Information design consultancy
  • HTML/CSS GUI templates

Sound Financial Planning Sound Financial Planning

Project objectives
Sound Financial Planning wished to expand on their success within the financial advice sector and increase clients’ awareness and understanding of their unique Lifestyle Wealth Programme™ through their existing marketing materials. Our job was to re-evaluate the company’s identity, increase sales and to help Sound Financial Planning become one of the UK’s leading financial advice companies by:

  • Establishing the company objectives and key messages
  • Developing a marketing plan
  • Re-branding their marketing collateral

Our approach
Brilliant worked closely with Sound Financial Planning to identify their target market and key business objectives. Once the strategic requirements were understood, Brilliant created a new brand identity which formed the basis for the re-design of corporate print and web media to support an ongoing marketing campaign.

The structure and content of the website was carefully considered to effectively communicate Sound Financial Planning’s key messages and unique service offering.

What we delivered

  • Detailed strategic marketing plan
  • Brand design and development
  • Business stationery
  • Bespoke company folder
  • Corporate brochure
  • Website
  • Advertising support
  • Ongoing marketing support and performance reviews

National Lease Plans National Lease Plans

Project objectives
National Lease Plans had identified that it was not readily recognised as a national organisation; a situation that was exacerbated by its lack of a strong identity and brand consistency. Our challenge was to raise its profile as the leading company for providing Land Registry Compliant Lease Plans to legal and property markets, and help it to become recognised as the UK’s only truly national lease plan provider by:

  • re-establishing its objectives and key messages
  • developing a marketing plan
  • re-branding the company on all marketing and publicity collateral

Our approach
Brilliant initiated a full marketing audit designed to create a comprehensive picture of NLP’s current situation. This included getting a clear understanding of the company’s mission and business objectives and an understanding of historical marketing activities; undertaking an external and internal analysis of business to gain a full appreciation of the company’s services and products; assessing its brand positioning potential; completing a full Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats analysis and identifying and understanding the existing customer base, target customer/market and competitors.

Following a thorough assessment of our findings, we created a detailed strategic marketing plan that rationalised and focused NLP’s messaging, streamlined its branding, and converged the organisation’s thinking in a way designed specifically to help it position itself to break into new market segments and locations — with an initial focus on gaining national exposure with conveyance solicitors’ groups.

Once the plan had gained full approval, Brilliant took complete control of NLP’s branding and communication media and press relations and coordinated NLP’s marketing and promotion opportunities.

What we delivered
In the first three months of our involvement, we delivered:

  • Detailed strategic marketing plan
  • Brand design and development
  • Communication and copywriting
  • Company brochure
  • Literature and Lease Plan folder
  • Website
  • eMarketing — Search Engine Optimisation and Pay-per-Click campaigns
  • Business stationery and electronic stationery
  • Targeted direct mail
  • Advertising support
  • Exhibition support and display system
  • Merchandise and giveaways
  • Ongoing marketing support and performance reviews

The Results
The new key messaging, supported by new branding and marketing materials first seen at Olympia’s Law London Expo in March 2008, has already resulted in significant increases in client acquisition and increased prospect conversion.

We continue to support NLP with direct mail, public relations, exhibition support, Search Engine Optimisation [SEO] and advertising requirements.

Motability

Project objectives
In early 2007, Brilliant was awarded the contract to work with Motability after winning a five-way pitch. The brief was to provide creative solutions for forthcoming literature that would develop the Motability brand and move key messaging forward across all of Motability’s marketing collateral. The aim was to increase both awareness of the scheme and application figures.

Our approach
Analysis of Motability’s previous literature revealed the need for stricter adherence to its existing brand guidelines, which had been diluted and become inconsistent over time. In addition, a fresh visual approach was required to ensure key messages were communicated more effectively, as the current literature’s miscommunication had resulted in a stagnation in both enquires and responses to promotions. Brilliant recognised that while the core marketing objectives for the company were sound, Motability needed to achieve better national awareness of its ability to provide scooters, powered wheelchairs and Wheel Chair Adapted vehicles (WAV) as well as the better known facility of providing cars.

Our first step was to clearly redefine the brand and the key messages Motability wanted to promote, to ensure a consistent messaging, look and feel for the organisation moving forward. We then developed two complementary concepts; one aimed at getting Motability’s customers to identify themselves; the second at raising the profile of the service that Motability offers. As part of the first concept, close-up photographs of faces were used to represent a cross section of people who benefit from the Scheme. The second concept used a composite image comprising a car, a scooter, a powered wheelchair and WAV to illustrate clearly the kind of products available through the Scheme.

The results As part of the awareness campaign, Motability mailed over 1.3 million eligible non-customers with a new style information leaflet. This made an immediate impact and helped drive up applications to join the Scheme:

  • January 2008 saw a record 21,837 applications to the Motability Scheme, beating the previous record of 18,155 applications in July ’07 (prior to the launch of any redeveloped materials).
  • January 2008 recorded an applications increase of 20.5% compared to January 2007.
  • Over 19,500 applications were received in February 2008 resulting in the second highest month on record behind January.

In addition to the direct marketing campaign, Brilliant has also provided advertising, report and accounts documentation design and general marketing and creative design support. As a result of the success to date, we have been invited to develop these materials further for 2008.

JetAir JetAir Case Study

JetAir appointed Brilliant to consider two avenues of rebranding; option one was to analyse the market, highlight similar operations and identify brands which represent attributes of JetAir’s brief; from here Brilliant derived a range of original logo type design solutions which adhered to and at the same time deviated from market trends.

The second approach was to develop the existing brand and to achieve a whole new standard, while retaining the characteristics of the long-standing original and once again satisfying the goals stipulated in the design brief.

The result was a total departure from the common red, white and blue colour scheme and a more refined deep aqua blue replaced the former palette, supplemented by silver foil blocking on such items as printed literature and business stationery. The logo itself took on a much slicker, more stream-lined appearance, with attributes such as surrounding space and page positioning also adding to its overall appeal — this was later defined in Brilliant’s JetAir Brand identity usage guidelines document.

Brilliant has commenced with the co-ordination and design of the JetAir company brochure, folder and services inserts, bespoke business stationery and electronic stationery. JetAir also has a recurring requirement to produce high quality merchandise for their close client base.

Servocell

Brilliant were initially approached by Servocell to provide a fresh look to their existing online communication. The initial brief very quickly developed into a full brand analysis and marketing communication project, which coincided with Servocell’s imminent floatation on the AIM Stock Exchange.

Brilliant decided that Servocell’s cutting-edge ‘Active Latch Module’ technology, targeted at the security industry, required a visual metaphor to convey the position of their component product within its market place. This new brand identity image was immediately implemented to all online media, across all printed collateral and marketing communications.

Our work developed the brand-supporting strapline, stationery, direct mail, product packaging, product brochures, generic brochures and specification/data sheets. Servocell strive for a paperless office, therefore Brilliant are required to provide Servocell branded electronic stationery and templates, making full use of common Microsoft and Adobe software.

Brilliant’s chosen website solution provided Servocell with a full content management interface for company, product and investor relation information editing, with the ability to control their ProActive Partnership membership database concept, via a simple online editing suite of tools.

Positive feedback to the rebrand was immediate and industry awareness of the Servocell mission is increasing in line with Servocell’s own product range development, all as a result of Brilliant’s recent marketing and design communications input.

Stortford Interiors

Brilliant were approached by Stortford Interiors with the brief to give their brand identity and website a complete overhaul. We identified the need for the solution to be sensitive to Stortford Interiors’ existing clients, whilst refreshing their brand and reflecting their business aspirations.

The work on the initial brief was split into three stages: logotype design and development; stationery design; and website design and production. By using this step-by-step process, we ensured consistency of brand application across all media, which is an essential part of establishing and maintaining a strong brand identity.

A selection of logo solutions was presented to Stortford Interiors, along with brand slogans to accompany them. Based on the chosen design we created a set of brand rules which included colour and font specifications, thereby facilitating the design and layout of the company stationery.

In our proposal for their website, we advised Stortford Interiors that they would benefit from a content management system (CMS), which would allow them to update the website content internally at any time. To fulfil this we implemented our proprietary CMS called SPRK — a WYSIWYG interface which is accessible through any web browser, and can be operated by someone with little or no web design experience.

Subsequently, Brilliant have continued to provide design solutions for Stortford Interiors on projects ranging from building signage to vehicle liveries. We have also brought all internal stationery into line with the new brand identity, including a business tender folder and a quarterly staff newsletter.

The Giving Machine TheGivingMachine case study

The brainchild of four local ‘dads’ based in and around Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, the website enables shoppers to turn commission generated from online retailers into donations for good causes of their choice simply by clicking through TheGivingMachine and buying online.

TheGivingMachine concept was given a variety of identity treatments before settling on the one we see here. The final logo identity solution reinforces the values and aspirations that define TheGivingMachine, suggesting an authoritative yet warm and approachable presence on all pages within the website, and is central to all marketing and advertising collateral.

TheGivingMachine website is a completely bespoke online software solution, the core components of which are strategically deployed in release intervals, allowing for ongoing analysis and development to take place while enjoying staged development costs, easing the initial start-up budgets.

Brilliant are responsible for all of TheGivingMachine design communications, including advertising, promotional literature, business stationery, merchandise and display materials to name a few. TheGivingMachine brand and key messaging is always upheld regardless of the media it is applied to.

Paul Stalker Consulting

Since building the first version of the Paul Stalker Consulting website, Brilliant have consistently provided design and marketing support for both on-line and off-line media. Brilliant’s service not only covers their web and eMarketing requirements, but also their latest paperback title “Raise Your GAME Now!”, with supporting DVD box sets and CD talking book packaging. Brilliant also provide them with general display, merchandise materials, creative advertising and conference/seminar support.

Paul Stalker’s distinctive ‘energised’ identity has developed over it’s short history with Brilliant, to include a whole new family of characters, each representing the positive and negative traits that exist in people’s personalities and attitudes. These characters are derived from the original Paul Stalker energised character which forms part of the company logo and associated branding elements. The ‘PSC’ logo was designed as a secondary stamp of authentication for web and print media.

First Choice Credit First Choice Credit

Project objectives
First Choice Credit recognised that they were not reaching full potential within their market through their existing marketing materials. Our job was to re-evaluate the company’s profile both as a business and as a service, to increase awareness and sales; and to help First Choice Credit to become one of the UK’s leading lender companies by:

  • establishing the company objectives and key messages
  • developing a marketing plan
  • re-branding the marketing and publicity collateral

Our approach
Brilliant initiated a full marketing audit of First Choice Credit, designed to facilitate greater understanding of the company’s requirements and business objectives. We identified the company’s needs and constructed a clear, detailed strategic marketing plan.

What we delivered

  • Detailed strategic marketing plan
  • Brand design and development
  • Communication and copywriting
  • Website
  • eMarketing — Search Engine Optimisation
  • Business stationery
  • Targeted direct mail
  • Advertising support
  • Ongoing marketing support and performance reviews

Marson Marson

The Challenge
To update W.E. Marson & Sons’ brand image as part of a long-term strategy to establish their reputation as the leader in laboratory furniture manufacturing.

The Solution
Brilliant initiated a full marketing audit, culminating in a fully detailed strategic marketing plan — assisting W.E. Marson in breaking into new market segments and locations. Brilliant took full control of W.E. Marson’s branding and communication media, and coordinated their marketing and promotion opportunities. It was decided that the company should be referred to simply as ’Marson’ to underpin a more modern identity; but other brand elements hint at the company’s distinguished heritage.

Specific deliverables included:

  • Detailed Strategic Marketing Plan
  • Brand Design and Development
  • Company Brochures
  • Direct Mailers
  • Website
  • eMarketing - Search Engine Optimisation
  • Business Stationery
  • Vehicle Liveries
  • Ongoing Marketing support and performance reviews

The Results
Brilliant’s budgeted and carefully coordinated review of Marson’s marketing and brand identity has already resulted in significant increases in new client acquisition and increased prospect conversion.

Debtor Book Solutions Debtor Book Solutions Case Study

Debtor Book Solutions’ requirement was for a brand identity which on the one hand distinguishes the parent company from its two subsidiaries, but on the other hand maintains a visual unity between the three.

Brilliant’s design solutions embraced DBS’s design brief and considered a variety of creative approaches, from illustration to photorealistic graphic identity solutions in the form of a logotype, incorporating single colour, full colour, typographic diversity and a range of print finishing techniques.

The chosen design solution was taken forward into marketing collateral, an intuitive website, business stationery, internal digital stationery and eMail marketing.

CareTech UK

Brilliant were approached by CareTech to update their online presence and review and revise all their printed collateral. Brilliant’s work with CareTech also includes exhibition display design and event coordination, presentation materials, extensive marketing collateral, advertising concepts, promotional merchandising, interactive media and photography.

CareTech’s brand identity requirement was for a visual metaphor which embodies their professional and sensitive approach to running a care home service, with a commitment to the wellbeing and personal development of individual service users. The solution centres on two key devices: the logotype and the ‘touching hands’ image.

CareTech’s investor relation materials retain all the brand attributes laid down by Brilliant and solidify CareTech’s brand values.

The MP3 Company The MP3 Company

The MP3 Company, already an established and reputable business with a successful eBay store, called upon Brilliant to design and develop a fully independent and branded e-Commerce website solution, with clear intentions of becoming a recognised specialist online retailer. The move enabled them to secure a reputable foothold within the industry while expanding their extensive product offering and building on their loyal client base.

The website was designed with clear and concise styling, simple functionality and usability in mind. The branding assets originally created for the website have been subsequently carried forward into dynamically generated monthly eNewsletters and magazine advertising.

Incorporated into the website is a fully functional and bespoke Content Management System, based upon Brilliant’s proprietary ‘SPRK’ CMS system. The MP3 Company can easily upload product images; review, add or delete text content; create promotion bundles and discount codes as and when required, along with secure, customer account management and stock control tools.

Since its launch in January 2007, The MP3 Company has established itself as a contender to the recognised online competition and has doubled the turnover of its bigger brother eBay store.

Brand Identity

Top Price Gold Consumer Branding

Top Price Gold offer top end cash amounts for unwanted gold.

Project objectives
Top Price Gold, already an established business, required a fresh identity and a friendly face for the UK market to keep one step ahead of the growing competition surrounding the rise in gold value, and to communicate the benefits of their unique service. It was important for the company’s website to have a user-friendly interface which focuses on the company’s ethos.

Our approach
Brilliant set out to design a unique brand identity which would be vibrant and appealing, accompanied by some friendly illustrated characters to reinforce the service’s credibility and trustworthiness in the eyes of potential customers. Subsequently, we produced a TPG brand guidelines document and applied these standards to customer-facing literature.

In addition to the creative branding stage, Brilliant were asked to work on the graphical user interface (GUI) for TPG’s website; this included designing, illustrating and animating a portion of the interface within Flash, to display key messages in a fun and attractive method.

The brand is supported by colourful illustrations produced by Brilliant, which are used to help guide customers through the easy, step-by-step process.

What we delivered

  • Brand identity design
  • Character illustration
  • Information design consultancy
  • Brand identity guidelines document
  • GUI designs
  • Flash animation

Further development has led to Brilliant producing materials for the launch of TPG into the German market.

CareTech UK Care Sector Identity

CareTech provides quality housing and support services across 130 homes to 840 adults with a range of learning and physical disabilities, challenging behaviours and mental health problems. CareTech offers superb opportunities for people to experience a fuller and more complete lifestyle.

CareTech’s requirement was for an identity which embodies their professional approach to running a care home service, with a commitment to the wellbeing and personal development of individual service users.

The final solution centres on two key devices: the company logo and the ‘touching/reaching hands’ image.

The logo shows a stylised dove metamorphosing into a hand, to symbolise peace, love and nurturing; and the typeface ITC Officina has been chosen for its formal but warm appearance.

The touching/reaching hands image represent CareTech’s outreach into the community, to reinforce the message of the strapline “Community Services”; and it evokes their focus on providing a foundation for personal development.

Debtor Book Solutions Medical & Financial Identity

Debtor Book Solutions is a holding company, providing two key services to the medical and financial professions: Persist Collections ensure that time, skill, discipline and diligence is employed to deal with collecting debts. Medifactor will buy invoices raised to solicitors or medical agencies that conform to pre-agreed criteria.

Debtor Book Solutions’ requirement was for a brand identity which on the one hand distinguishes the parent company from its two Medical and Financial subsidiary services, but on the other hand maintains a visual unity between all three.

The strong use of colour clearly defines the boundaries between the services; conversely, the logotype uses a square form and strong typography to create cohesion across the group.

A foil blocked logo has been applied to the stationery, brochures and literature to suggest the first-class, quality service that Debtor Book Solutions offer, while reflecting their professional approach to debt recovery.

Servocell Manufacturing Company Identity

Created in 1997, Servocell was established to develop and exploit its unique piezo-ceramic based actuator technology within high volume global lock applications. Where there is a requirement for intelligent, low powered security, Servocell has the unique solution.

Servocell already had a logotype in place before they approached us, but it needed to be refreshed as part of the wider process of creating a stronger brand identity.

We redrafted the logo and applied highlights to the letters to give them a ‘polished’ appearance, suggesting fine engineering and craftsmanship. The accompanying strapline “Changing the Way Locks Work” concisely summarises Servocell’s mission statement.

An additional graphical device was required to support the logo and encapsulate the company’s aim to provide innovative lock solutions to fulfil end users’ security needs. A clam image consisting of glowing strands of ‘energy’ was chosen to represent security and electronic access control; and the red pearl stands for the actuator technology at the heart of Servocell’s product offering.

The ProActive Partnership is a growing directory of Design and Access Control companies, willing and able to work together with Servocell’s Active Latch to create the best electro-mechanical lock solution. We designed an animated logo for the Partnership, to be featured on the Servocell website, but the static version equally evokes the movement of interlocking parts.

The Giving Machine Fundraising Identity

TheGivingMachine allows everyday internet shoppers to support their favourite charities and schools with cash donations provided by big name retailers when you buy online.

Each of the four founders has a business card featuring an original drawing of them by one of their children on the reverse; this expresses the warm, caring nature of their enterprise, and is a playful reminder of some of the children who could benefit from the scheme.

JetAir Aviation Company Identity

JetAir provide aviation management and logistics services to companies, governments and individuals worldwide. JetAir provide safe, secure and experienced services for the Oil, Pharmaceutical and Financial industries to some of the more remote and undeveloped regions of the world.

The single-colour logotype solution uses clean typography, and the company name is partially split by a dynamic ‘swoosh’ which suggests the speed and efficiency of JetAir’s service, without resorting to the obvious method of using an aircraft icon.

High-quality, textured materials have been used for the stationery, along with a foil embossed ‘swoosh’, to suggest the first-class, luxury service enjoyed by JetAir’s clients.

A close-up photograph of a woman’s face, focused on her eye, is used as a supporting brand element; an aircraft is reflected in her eye, and the bright orange background is striking against the cool colours used elsewhere.

Stortford Interiors Interiors Company Identity

Stortford Interiors (UK) Limited are a major contractor specialising in the supply and installation of wall, ceiling and total interior solutions for the commercial workplace across the UK.

Brilliant were approached by Stortford Interiors with the brief to give their brand identity a complete overhaul. We identified the need for the solution to be sensitive to Stortford Interiors’ existing clients, whilst refreshing their brand and reflecting their business aspirations.

In developing their new brand, we retained the hues from the original Stortford Interiors logo, as they had already become strongly associated with the company; however, a darker shade of red has been chosen to reflect the fact that Stortford Interiors is a prestigious company. Classic serif and sans-serif fonts have been used together to suggest both an established reputation and modern design savvy respectively.

The central, solid-red circle in the logo represents Stortford Interiors as a company; while the three ‘arms’ each consist of 6 solid-grey circles, representing the various suppliers and services brought together, managed and delivered by Stortford Interiors.

Mariposa Retail Branding

Mariposa Brides & Grooms based in Sawbridgeworth, offer elegant and classically designed wedding attire through their exclusive retail outlet.

Brilliant were asked to produce a fresh identity for Mariposa, which needed to be incorporated into new stationery, signage and their existing website; and had to complement the plans for their shop refit.

Mariposa is Spanish for "butterfly", so we created a delicate identity based around a flowing illustration, using a colour palette which is intended to appeal to both sexes. Silver foil was used to highlight the outline of a butterfly on the business cards and document folder, to create an eye-catching detail within the illustration.

We selected off-white paper and board to complete the sumptuous stationery design, and Mariposa Aquamarine was printed as a solid colour inside the folder to add a further element of luxury.

The brand was applied to headed paper, compliment slips, business cards, an A5 folder, dress tags, bespoke triplicate forms, invoices, exterior shop signage and interior vinyl graphics; and Brilliant managed the print and production to ensure everything was ready in time for the shop’s launch date.

To promote the opening of Mariposa’s newly refurbished shop, we designed press advertising; and the resulting template is being used on an ongoing basis to promote various product lines and seasonal sales.

Creative Marketing Literature

Eagle Automation Systems Product Brochure

Established in 1988, Eagle Automation Systems has built an enviable reputation for providing electric gates to secure homes and properties. Their portfolio contains an impressive list of blue chip organisations as well as residential clients.

Eagle approached Brilliant to update their brand identity and design a new brochure showcasing their automated residential wooden gates and related services.

The clean layout of the brochure focuses on large attractive photographs and strong graphical devices. Print production was managed by Brilliant, and the result is a high-quality, matt-laminated document.

As well as working on further brochures that will cover the whole of Eagle’s product range, Brilliant are nearing completion of Eagle’s website, which carries forward their new visual identity.

Eulum Design Product Catalogue

Eulum Design supply and manufacture superior luminaries from an exclusive range of over 300 light fittings, designed with a European influence to give their customers technically advanced optics and innovative design.

Eulum Design approached Brilliant to produce a substantial product catalogue which would showcase their entire range of over 300 products. The design required a combination of style and simplicity throughout, with bespoke location photography playing an important role on every page.

Vital for the company’s development, a carefully selected cover image alongside the Eulum Design brand created a striking yet elegant design which was later transferred to their business stationery and the Eulum Design website.

The catalogue will be distributed throughout showrooms in the UK and Europe.

JetAir Company Folder & Inserts

JetAir provide aviation management and logistics services to companies, governments and individuals worldwide. JetAir provide safe, secure and experienced services for the Oil, Pharmaceutical and Financial industries to some of the more remote and undeveloped regions of the world.

JetAir’s requirements for marketing literature were simple: to carry the brand and to highlight the range of services on offer.

The solution is a branded folder which, in addition to stationery, is designed to hold loose A4 inserts which explain various aspects of JetAir’s service in detail.

Debtor Book Solutions Company Folder & Brochure Pack

Debtor Book Solutions provide two key services to the medical and financial professions: Persist Collections ensure that time, skill, discipline and diligence is employed to deal with collecting debts. Medifactor will buy invoices raised to solicitors or medical agencies that conform to pre-agreed criteria.

Our development of the Debtor Book Solutions brand and stationery culminated in a marketing pack, which consists of a folder and a brochure.

The solution is flexible and cost-effective, as this single design supports communications by both Persist Collections and Medifactor: the folder has two front flaps, each with a different logo; and the brochure has a ‘tumble-and-turn’ format with one half branded Persist Collections, and the other half Medifactor.

We have supplemented the branding with photographs which represent the two professions served by Debtor Book Solutions’ subsidiaries — a barrister for Persist Collections and a medical consultant for Medifactor.

Motability Direct Mail

Motability is a national charity, set up on the initiative of the Government to assist disabled people with their mobility needs. Motability enables disabled people to obtain a car, powered wheelchair or scooter simply by using their government-funded mobility allowances.

Our brief was to move the Motability brand and key messaging forward as part of a coordinated push; to increase public awareness of the scheme and raise response rates to their direct mail campaigns.

In order to achieve greater recognition, it is important that the brand integrity is maintained across all marketing collateral; therefore, we reappraised the existing brand guidelines and rigorously applied them to the new literature.

It is also essential that the supporting visual concepts bring clarity and not confusion to the message. Both Brilliant and Motability recognised that the stock imagery used in Motability’s literature was inappropriate to Motability’s target audience; so our focus was to concentrate on the use of more relevant and indicative imagery.

Increased response rates can be achieved by simply clarifying the steps required to reply. The page layouts provided by Brilliant use space constructively, to highlight important points about the scheme; and the typography applied is clean, clear and legible ensuring wider readership accessibility — naturally, an important aspect of Motability’s communications.

Servocell Company Brochure

Created in 1997 and now listed on the AIM stock exchange, Servocell was established to develop and exploit its unique piezo-ceramic based actuator technology within high volume global applications. Since this date the Group has successfully deployed its technology in electrical breakers under the PowerBreaker brand, within Active Latch modules for security industry OEMs and electromechanical products.

The Servocell Group mission statement is ‘Urban 500’ which targets the widespread distribution of Servocell technology such that, within any town or city across the globe, an observer will be within 500 meters of a Servocell product.

Brilliant played a pivotal part in Servocell’s messaging development relating to their own electronic lock products which are set to change the way locks work in a variety of commercial applications.

The CL (Cabinet Lock) range is the first stage in Servocell’s product deployment programme and was represented by a 6pp brochure highlighting the key benefits and features of the CL products to generate interest and clear, non-technical reference during Servocell’s initial sales push.

Where there is a requirement for intelligent, low powered locks, Servocell has the solution.

Servocell Direct Mail

Created in 1997, Servocell was established to develop and exploit its unique piezo-ceramic based actuator technology within high volume global lock applications. Where there is a requirement for intelligent, low powered security, Servocell has the unique solution.

The AL2 is an example of an active latch based around Servocell’s patented actuator, which is used as a component in keyless electronic locks. For this reason, Servocell has to market its products to lock manufacturers, using direct mail as part of the marketing mix.

Key features of this product are its reliability and durability, so for this particular exercise we chose to use a sturdy metal case to emphasise the point. A belly wrap encircles the case and requires the recipient to break the seal in order to open it, suggesting the unveiling of a new product. Contained within the case is a six-page document covering features and specifications of the AL2.

This kind of high-quality presentation makes a great first impression and engages the recipient in a way which a simple leaflet might not.

Servocell Product Data Sheets

Created in 1997, Servocell was established to develop and exploit its unique piezo-ceramic based actuator technology within high volume global lock applications. Where there is a requirement for intelligent, low powered security, Servocell has the unique solution.

Unfortunately, it can be difficult to market a small piece of technology which is relatively uninspiring to look at, regardless of how advanced it is; so Servocell asked us to design branded product data sheets to assist with sales of their lock solutions.

Our solution is a series of two-sided, A4 sheets containing details about Servocell’s range of locking devices. To supplement the rather complex information on the reverse, we decided to use the front of the sheets to display various three-dimensional, computer-generated models of typical environments where the use of Servocell’s products could be particularly beneficial. Simple icons are also used to highlight the products’ key features.

All of the 3D and illustration work was executed in-house by the Brilliant team.

Mistley Bathroom Glass Product Pricelist

Based on Mistley Quayside, Essex; Mistley Bathroom Glass is the home of low-iron optically clear glass shower panels. The minimal designs of their high quality fittings deliver a sleek, modern look.

Following the success of Mistley’s product brochure in 2008, Brilliant were commissioned to design a pricelist and order form for their shower and bath screen range. It was particularly important to maintain brand consistency as the documents are presented in showrooms alongside the product brochure.

Brilliant also managed the print production: a matt-laminated finish was specified for the pricelist to create a durable, water-resistant document; and the order forms were glued into pads with stiff board backs for convenience.

Mistley Bathroom Glass Showroom Brochure

Based on Mistley Quayside, Essex; Mistley Bathroom Glass is the home of low-iron optically clear glass shower panels. The minimal designs of their high quality fittings deliver a sleek, modern look.

Brilliant’s ongoing involvement in producing Mistley’s communications media continued with the design of their first full product brochure. As with Mistley’s previous literature, this brochure has been distributed in retail showrooms across the country, and it carries forward the brand identity developed and launched by Brilliant in 2006.

Mistley Bathroom Glass Preview Brochure

Based on Mistley Quayside, Essex; Mistley Bathroom Glass is the home of low-iron optically clear glass shower panels. The minimal designs of their high quality fittings deliver a sleek, modern look.

Mistley asked us to present their new 2007-2008 product photographs in a full-colour album, prior to the release of their second product brochure.

The design carries Mistley’s brand identity forward, and is a precursor to the 2007-2008 literature. Heavy, spiral-bound landscape pages create the high-quality feel of a photo album and the latest digital printing technology was utilised to meet the tight deadline for distribution.

Mistley Bathroom Glass Four Page Brochure

Based on Mistley Quayside, Essex; Mistley Bathroom Glass is the home of low-iron optically clear glass shower panels. The minimal designs of their high quality fittings deliver a sleek, modern look.

Mistley approached Brilliant to produce a four page brochure which would be distributed in retail showrooms across the country. Our design needed to reflect the simplicity and elegance of their products.

As a new branch of an existing company, Mistley also required a new logo, which we developed as part of the brochure design.

CareTech UK Company Brochure

CareTech provides quality housing and support services across 130 homes to 840 adults with a range of learning and physical disabilities, challenging behaviours and mental health problems. CareTech offers superb opportunities for people to experience a fuller and more complete lifestyle.

Our marketing literature solutions for CareTech continue the theme of high-quality care in the community, which we have established with their brand — a clean, professional style reflects CareTech’s ethos.

For the company brochure, we chose a high-contrast, grainy photographic technique to evoke the emotional ties between carers and service users — this demonstrates CareTech’s belief that it is very important for these relationships to be genuine, in order for service users to get the best care and personal development.

CareTech rely on Brilliant to design and print care home flyers on an ongoing basis — these are used to publicise homes which have available rooms, and feature interior photography and information about the service. Recently, CareTech acquired several children’s care homes, and we adapted the branding accordingly — bright, colourful illustrations are used to distinguish childcare literature from adult literature.

Corporate Literature

Motability Report and Accounts

Motability is a national charity, set up on the initiative of the Government to assist disabled people with their mobility needs. Motability enables disabled people to obtain a car, powered wheelchair or scooter simply by using their government-funded mobility allowances.

Motability approached Brilliant to produce their 2006/2007 company annual report and accounts documents.

It was essential for the Motability brand guidlines to be maintained consistently throughout, utilising white space and legible typography, with supporting photography and suitable graphs to provide an informative document.

Servocell Report & Accounts

Created in 1997, Servocell was established to develop and exploit its unique piezo-ceramic based actuator technology within high volume global lock applications. Where there is a requirement for intelligent, low powered security, Servocell has the unique solution.

In the run up to Servocell’s admission to AIM, Brilliant designed all of the printed documents they required throughout the process. It was important for the documents to be strongly branded and clearly presented; bright illustrations are used to aid the communication of key points.

Since then, we have been involved in the design of Servocell’s annual report and accounts literature, as well as several other corporate presentations.

Servocell Corporate Folder

Created in 1997, Servocell was established to develop and exploit its unique piezo-ceramic based actuator technology within high volume global lock applications. Where there is a requirement for intelligent, low powered security, Servocell has the unique solution.

Servocell required a generic corporate folder for distributing various items of stationery and marketing literature, featuring: a summary about the company, product images and a collection of photographs of professional, retail and industrial environments. However, at the same time it needed to be fairly future-proof, so any imagery had to be carefully selected.

The result is a striking, six-page folder which bolsters the brand, and yet is simple enough not to date quickly.

Stortford Interiors Tender Folder

Stortford Interiors (UK) Limited are a major contractor specialising in the supply and installation of wall, ceiling and total interior solutions for the commercial workplace across the UK.

Stortford Interiors regularly tender for new business and sought Brilliant to provide a bespoke solution to enhance their bid. A professional and creative Tender Presentation Design is central to success in their highly competitive market.

Brilliant were asked to design a substantial, durable tender folder, to contain presentation documents printed by Stortford Interiors themselves on quality A4 paper. Pages were based on branded Word templates we had supplied as part of their electronic stationery set. The folder was also required to incorporate other branded communication materials.

The simple but effective solution is a ring-binder with a heavy-duty, translucent plastic cover, which is strongly branded but elegant. Some neat design details include the strapline screen printed on the spine; the bespoke divider tabs; and a striking red backing sheet, all of which details and upholds their brand.

Sabien Pathfinder Document

Rising energy prices and the environment have been growing concerns for the industiral and commercial business sectors over recent years. Sabien Technology Limited was in founded March 2004 to take advantage of an energy-saving boiler control unit called "M2G", which helps these businesses to achieve both financial savings and an improved environmental profile.

Brilliant were asked to design Sabien’s pathway document, which was an essential tool to help them secure the necessary funding for their admission to AIM.

Sabien’s existing branding was maintained and extended to create a striking, professional document which visually communicates the core values of their business.

CareTech UK Corporate Brochure

Diverse Design

The Extra Mile Partnership Book & Illustration

The Extra Mile Partnership delivers motivational seminars and peak performance coaching that have a direct impact on their clients’ profitability. The Extra Mile concept was born out of Paul Stalker Consulting (the organisation’s former trading name) and is centred around a return to traditional values.

Brilliant were asked to re-brand The Extra Mile Partnership from the ground up; their logo, marketing materials and website had to be developed to a tight schedule in order to be ready in time for their company launch.

Part of The Extra Mile Partnership’s marketing strategy was a direct mail campaign targeted at CEOs, consisting of a covering letter, invitation and a 50 page book entitled ’Going The Extra Mile’ explaining the Partnership’s philosophy.

Brilliant designed, illustrated and typeset the book and advised on production to achieve a high-quality, perfect-bound finish with foil embossing and leather texture on the cover.

Goodwin Malatesta Illustrated Calendar

Goodwin Malatesta Legal Costs Services is a firm of legal costs specialists that provide a comprehensive service to a wide range of clients.

Following the success of Goodwin Malatesta’s 2008 calendar Brilliant were asked to create a brand new illustrated desktop calendar for 2009.

The calendar kept the same layout as the previous year, yet included twelve new characters illustrated in a consistent style for each month of the year; representing important cultural holidays or sporting events.

The calendar is packaged in a neat, easily-mailable CD jewel case which contains thirteen card inserts and acts as a desktop stand.

Mistley Bathroom Glass Installation Instructions

Based on Mistley Quayside, Essex; Mistley Bathroom Glass is the home of low-iron optically clear glass shower panels. The minimal designs of their high quality fittings deliver a sleek, modern look.

Brilliant worked closely with Mistley to develop a set of nine installation instruction sheets to accompany each of the shower- or bath-screen kits delivered to their customers. We tapped the knowledge of Mistley’s professional fitters in several assembly briefings, and documented the correct procedures and tools required for installation.

We then expanded the detailed notes from these briefings into full copy, which was in turn used to plan and illustrate diagrams for the complete step-by-step instruction sheets.

The installation instructions carry Mistley’s brand throughout, and build on the style of illustration originally developed by Brilliant for Mistley’s product brochures. It was seen as important to make the installation instructions not only clear and easy to follow, but also distinctive — we don’t think you’ll find assembly guides as beautiful yet functional as these anywhere else!

JetAir Branded Merchandise

JetAir provide aviation management and logistics services to companies, governments and individuals worldwide. JetAir provide safe, secure and experienced services for the Oil, Pharmaceutical and Financial industries to some of the more remote and undeveloped regions of the world.

To further promote their services, JetAir give branded merchandise to their customers. Brilliant’s JetAir logo can be seen here applied to a smart watch, luggage tags, a world atlas and a pen.

Branded merchandise is a great way of promoting your company at exhibitions and can be used to reflect the nature of your business, as JetAir have done here.

Motability Exhibition Stand

Motability is a national charity, set up on the initiative of the Government to assist disabled people with their mobility needs. Motability enables disabled people to obtain a car, powered wheelchair or scooter simply by using their government-funded mobility allowances.

In order to maintain their public profile, and to reach as many people as possible, Motability have a busy annual exhibition schedule around the UK; so Brilliant have redesigned Motability’s exhibition banners to fall in line with their refreshed brand.

Close-up photographs of faces are used to represent a cross section of Motability’s customers, and are accompanied by key messages. It was also important to create a large banner featuring an image consisting of cars, a scooter and a powered wheelchair, as surveys have shown that many people are not aware of the options for mobility assistance available through the Scheme — consequently, Motability have seen an immediate increase in the number of enquiries at their stand.
The designs are based on the Twist system and include single banners, a double banner with a stand and DVD screen, and a triple banner.

Enviro Tech Interactive Presentation

Enviro Tech Europe are specialists in all aspects of metal and plastics cleaning, especially for vapour degreasing. EnSolv, their patented precision cleaning solvent, has become the leading brand in the industry.

Brilliant were approached to create an interactive, animated presentation to support EnSolv product training at international seminars.

Based on a thorough brief, we set about designing a clear, concise representation of the concepts involved in this particular method of industrial cleaning. We created the diagrams in Adobe Illustrator, and built the presentation itself using ActionScript in Macromedia Flash, allowing us to include helpful animations and interactive features.

Part of the design process was to develop the existing EnSolv logotype and brand; we re-rendered the letterforms and added a ‘polished resin’ effect. The colour green was used to reflect EnSolv’s reduced environmental impact, compared to other cleaning products.

Goodwin Malatesta Illustrated Calendar

Goodwin Malatesta Legal Costs Services is a firm of legal costs specialists that provide a comprehensive service to a wide range of clients.

Following Brilliant’s creation of a new brand identity for Goodwin Malatesta, they required a means of maintaining and reinforcing their identity and services to existing and potential clients on a daily basis. In response, we designed and produced an attractive, illustrated desktop calendar, which was then mailed to their existing client base and subsequent new business contacts.

The calendar is packaged in a neat, easily-mailable CD case which contains thirteen card inserts and acts as a desktop stand.

The clean, corporate design developed by Brilliant has been carried forward to the twelve monthly templates for the calendar; but in contrast, the large ’gm’ device has been transformed into a playful character who adopts a different costume to reflect an important cultural or sporting event each month.

Paul Stalker Consulting Book & Illustration

PSC distills academic-level human behaviour studies to a digestible form for everyone from Chief Executives to part-time sales staff. Paul motivates and focuses individuals via a series of unique, energised and educational seminars or one-to-one coaching.

Brilliant were asked to design the “Raise Your GAME Now!” book to fit with the brand which we had already established for PSC. We produced over two hundred pages featuring several tables of information and over 40 original illustrations, all set in the two company colours; orange and blue. Our cover design features a full-colour photograph of Paul Stalker with his cartoon alter-ego sitting on his shoulder.

“Raise Your GAME Now!” is a self-help book which supplements Paul Stalker’s seminars. Using no-nonsense methods and exercises, Paul claims this book will be able to transform your life, whatever it is that you are searching for — a better job, a way to start your own business, the ability to overcome a health problem, to lose weight or stop smoking, to become wealthy, to find a partner in life or to make your relationship better with your partner.

Paul Stalker Consulting DVD Packaging

PSC distills academic-level human behaviour studies to a digestible form for everyone from Chief Executives to part-time sales staff. Paul motivates and focuses individuals via a series of unique, energised and educational seminars or one-to-one coaching.

The “Raise Your GAME Now!” book is now also available as a 10 CD talking book set; and a “Raise Your GAME Now! Bitesize” DVD with video clips. We have carried the design style we used in the book over to the packaging for these items, to ensure visual consistency across the series; but a bright green colour, and a different photograph of Paul has been used to distinguish the Bitesize DVD.

Stortford Interiors Vehicle Livery

Stortford Interiors (UK) Limited are a major contractor specialising in the supply and installation of wall, ceiling and total interior solutions for the commercial workplace across the UK.

Stortford Interiors use a fleet of vans to transport materials from place to place, and Brilliant were asked to design liveries for them as part of the new brand identity rollout. The van shown here is a Volkswagen Transporter, but we have adapted the graphics for use on several other vehicles in the fleet.
